Parent/Teacher Interviews
It was wonderful to see many of you over the last 24 hours. We love getting to know our families and students.
Pep Rally
This week we held our first Evanston Heights pep rally! We celebrated our Husky athletes, our fundraising for Terry Fox, and our inaugural Heart of the Husky student recognition.
Students who were awarded the Heart of the Husky exemplify our PACK values, consistently showing up with purpose, accountability, community spirit, and kindness. This will be an ongoing part of our learning community, and we look forward to recognizing many students who exemplify our values.
Congratulations to our teacher winners of Human Hungry Hungry Hippos; Team Wentzall and Vause, and Team Brown/Purcell!
Our class pizza party winners were Ms. Huberdeau (Grade 4), Mr. Martin (Grade 5), Ms. Keats (Grade 6), Ms. Borelli (7E), and Mrs. Truss (8C).
Our final tally for Terry Fox was about $2600 - well done Evanston Heights!
Healthy Hunger
Our first Healthy Hunger lunch is next Thursday, October 1st. Please note that orders need to be submitted five days prior to delivery. Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate late orders.
Choir
There will be a meeting for all students interested in singing in the school choir on Tuesday, September 29 at 8:45am in the Drama Room with Mr. West, Mr. Martin, and Mrs. Baker.
Teacher Absences
There will be times throughout the year that the school is short of substitute teachers for a variety of reasons (shortage, high demand etc). Over the last few years, schools are in a position of making morning decisions to ensure the safety and programming for students. This includes almost daily redeploying present staff/admin, dividing students up and assigning to other classrooms.
To provide predictability and consistency in the situation that our school is 'short of subs', our grade teams have worked together to develop contingency plans. Your child's homeroom teacher has divided their students into small groups and will join another classroom in that grade.
Orange Shirt Day
We will be acknowledging Orange Shirt Day on Tuesday, September 29th. Students are invited to wear an orange shirt, or a shirt of their favourite colour.
A reminder there is no school on September 30th in recognition of National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Evanston Heights swag is now available online for families to order! Please note, more options and styles will be available soon. A $15 flat rate shipping fee is charged by the site, so we encourage groups of students to order together.
