9 days under our belt! It has been a joyful, surprising and wonderful start to the school year. Students and staff are settling into routines, and our building is starting to feel a bit more like home. We continue to work through a few ‘new school’ quirks, with our staff and students showing flexibility and ingenuity.
Evanston Heights Athletics Off to the Races!
Congratulations to our X-Country team that competed in their first meeting on Thursday! We are so proud of our 20 (ish) member team, and Coaches Smith and Purcell. Our students had many personal bests, several top 30’s and a top 10! This is an incredible showing with age categories having 175 plus entries. Watch out for the Huskies in the upcoming 3 meets!
Food Truck Event
Thank you so much to our School Council for hosting the Back to School Food Truck event yesterday – the weather turned around for us and the sun was shining!
Reminder – Annual Forms
A reminder to login to MyCBE to complete your annual demographic forms – they are now available (another new school glitch, thank you for your patience). It is important for schools to have updated information, particularly contact information, in the event of an emergency.
Grade 4 to 6 students staying for lunch must also be enrolled in our lunch supervision program. Please see the link here: https://www.cbe.ab.ca/lunch-supervision
Student Safety
For everyone’s safety, please help us by following these guidelines:
- Do not drop off or pick up students in the parking lot or in the cross walk.
- Use designated crosswalks when crossing the street
- Do not park or stop in bus zones.
- Walk bikes, e-bikes, skateboards, and scooters while on school property
Thank you for helping us keep our school community safe!
Annual Notice – Video Surveillance
Our school has a video surveillance system to help maintain a safe and secure environment at the school for students, staff and the public, and to help address vandalism and criminal activity on school property.
The video surveillance system is installed and reviewed in accordance with Administrative Regulation 1066. Personal information is collected under the authority of the Education Act and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA), specifically section 10(1) and the Access to Information Act (ATIA) .
This technology can be placed in areas such as the school parking lot, building entrances and exits, stairwells and hallways. This information is recorded and collected to help maintain a safe and secure environment in the school and on school property. The users of this information are the principal or designate and law enforcement personnel in the case of reported incidents that would require an investigation. Only authorized persons will review video surveillance information.
Inquiries concerning the video surveillance system, or the collection and use of recorded information may be made by contacting the school office.

$2000 – one class per grade gets a pizza party
